Maximize your Top-End Speed

Speed can be broken down into 3 key phases- acceleration, transition and top-end speed. The SKLZ Speed Chute helps develop your speed for the transition and top-end phases. Using the Speed Chute promotes an upright posture, quick ground contact and leg recovery. In the transition phase, you’re progressively moving your body into an upright position while increasing and sustaining the velocity that was developed during the acceleration phase of the run. In the top-end speed phase, your goal is to improve running economy at top-end speeds while minimizing rotational movements and maximizing the reactivity of the body.

360-Degree Rotation Belt with Free-Motion Ring

The 360-degree rotation belt is omni-directional, allowing you to train in a variety of positions. When positioned on the right or left hip, it allows you to get off the line laterally like you would while stealing a base or breaking quickly to the hoop. When positioned at the center of your back, it allows for a linear or parallel start. Because of the free-motion ring, it can freely slide around your waist while mid-stride to change directions from forward to backward or backward to forward like a defensive end covering a wide receiver or a wide receiver looking for a ball.

The Speed Chute features a quick-release buckle for that mid-stride, “shot-out-of-the-cannon” sensation. Unclip mid-stride so your body feels lighter and you can move faster. You can compare this technique to taking practice swings with a bat weight, then stepping up to the plate without the bat weight to achieve maximum bat speed.
